Weekend in Memphis

So on the way back to Nashville, Friday evening, coming through Memphis - I suddenly realise that - hey! It's the weekend! And that we have nothing work related to do till Monday. And I'm in Frikking MEMPHIS! So... I repack my backpack in the carpark of a restaurant, bid Joe adieu and agree to be back In Nashville by Sunday evening and head off into the night. Kool! Saturday morning sees me hanging out with Tomita, before she kindly drops me at the first stop of my touristy day - aptly enough - the civil rights museum.

Tomita and Dan.

So they named the city after the capital of
Ancient Egypt. Who knew?!!
So, of course, they had to build a Pyramid.

The Civil Right Musem, built on the site of what
was the hotel where Martin Luther King
was assasinated. Deeply moving.

I'm sorry, but I find it very hard to think about
this and view these pictures without
choking up. What the world lost that day...

Anyway then it's off to Sun Studios, which
you absolutely blew me away. Truly hallowed ground.
Checkit!

That is me - touching the very microphone that
Elvis Presley sung all his early hit's into.

And then, picked up and taken around by the tour
guide from Sun - Charlynn! We totally hit it off!

Went out that night and caught some absolutely
amazing blues. Just awesome.

Possibly one of the funniest stickers I have
ever seen in my life!

So yes, once in a while you have to do something
completely ridiculous like ending off the night in a
discolight/fairytale horsedrawn carriage.

Wow.

Memphis!
