A young Dan with Moy (Bitch Godess). Nice Nick Cave look I've got happening huh?
Recording back in the old punk band days - in a rented hall up in Parnell, Auckland. I must have been about 18 here. Belt it out kid!
Ah, dive studios. This was in the heart of Airspace, a huge artist run, converted factory in Redfern. The Studio was one of several old freezing rooms in the bowels of this enormous old building. Massively insulated, the air got real dense in there, but boy could we make noise. And make noise we did. Amongst other things Ju Ju was born in this space. Greta, Dave, Pete and I pooled gear and set the place up - huge room, double bed and couch in the back for sprawling, Session 8 and 20 channel Tascam, hand built 190 point patch bay, drum kit, my desk, turntables, Pc for Gaming, everything a bunch of 20-something arty music kids could want to create with. What memories.
An earlier incarnation of the same studio. Check out the 4-track. Woah - analog!
Headphone kid - wasn't I cute back then. And that, my friends, is the first record I ever bought - yep it's a KISS record. Into Big Haired, Camp disco even back then... Frightening.
Yep - that's me on the left, giving the full 'tude' - back in the punk band days with Ezra, Quentin and James (who sensibly could not bring himself to scowl like that). Band was called suburbia. We used to practice on the top floor of a 6 story carpark in the middle of Auckland, pulling power from the central stairwell and lift shaft. All the local skate kids used to come around and skate around the place as we practiced...
Ziya and I, when we were in a project called Ziabatsu together. Probably around 1993 or so.
