PINK FLOYD’S THE WALL
Directed by: Allan Parker
U.K, 1982
If you can get over the fact that this is a Pink Floyd Rock opera you will be rewarded by what is a truly astonishing and remarkable movie. A Rockstar’s descent into a drug induced madness is portrayed part animation (directed by the legendary Gerald Scarfe), part rock clip, part surreal nightmare sequences of drug induced paranoia. Also a chilling and cynical look at both Human relationships and their dis-function generally, and also the relationship of Power and idolatry in the pop (sorry – rock) world as juxtaposed with the tendency towards fascism and hero worship in both teenage fans and the power structures of English Society. A must see.
7:40 pm Dinner Break
9:00 pm –10:30 pm
NOSFERATU (eine Symphonie des Grauens)
Directed by: F.W Murnau
Germany, 1922
The first ever Vampire movie which follows very closely the plot of Bram Stoker’s Dracula (names and places were changed for legal reasons). While not frightening by today’s standards it has a beautiful errie atmosphere and became the definition of much of Film Noir. Historically also fascinating for scenes from Pre-WWII Europe.
LIVE IMPROVISED ACCOMPANYMENT TO THIS SILENT VAMPIRE CLASSIC PERFORMED BY THE CLARE COOPER ENSEMBLE
11:00 – 1:00 pm
