Peats Ridge Festival 2006

Page 1

So a whole bunch of my friends decided this year that the 'Peats Ridge Festival' was the place to be for N.Y.E. And, finally, after much anguish about leaving the delights of inner city decadence, I succumbed and through in my lot with this ragtag bunch of itinerant wastrels. Well actually - it was amazing. A fantastic bunch of people, a number of which are good friends who now live in melbourne, and lots of heat, eating, drinking and lazing around the campsite.

Oh yeah - and once in a while I ventured into the festival too - which was in itself awesome (great mix - not too much hippy dippy drumming circle and chakra aligning workshops (although that was well present as well)) and real effort had gone into making the festival really sustainable with all bio-fuels or solar power being used, extremely well managed waste policies etc... And a whole heap of great music.

And of course, the joy of the Australian bush. And Peats Ridge is a truly remarkable place - just georgeous.

One of the best N.Y.E's I've had in ages.

Shout out to all those who made the whole thing so amazing!

Luv ya guts!

Imo and I just turning up - as you can tell
we're very excited!!!

The artist and crew and vollies processing lines
this wasn't as painful as it might have been,
but man - this particular part of the festival
was REALLY unorganised...

And yes - almost immediately - the obligatory
gnarled old hippy greeting the sun. And...
Respek!

I love this photo.
Just perfectly sums up that whole georgeous great
ozzie outdoor, hippy dippy joyous feral/fezzie festi vibe.
Bright flags flapping in the sun.
Impermanent, joyous, transitory.

Then it's time to stake out the camp site!
As far away from the festival site as we
can get, by a bend in the river, under some trees
and thanks to justin's tape and some dodgy signs
I whipped up on mum's printer in Auckland
(actually Claire's idea!) this space is ours!!!

The campsite Gods.

That's Brownie's bike in the background.

Neighbours.

More neighbours...

And then into the festival itself for a
quick lookaround. This was the Dubshack - easily
the best stage of the festival for me - always
good vibes on tap - and where later Perran
and I DJ'ed.

Little hippy stalls - lovely.

Again - lovely!
